I Ain’t Afraid of No Wii-Busters

April 20th, 2009

All my gripes with the Wii and it’s poor third-party titles aside, the trailer for the Wii version of Ghostbusters looks kind of fun. Granted, it’s only a trailer and the game itself is not being made by the same company making the spiffier, more “next-gen” version, so I’m not 100% convinced this won’t completely suck balls. But hey, maybe hell will freeze over and this game will rock.

*sigh*

Who am I kidding? Ghostbusters: The Game is another title that makes me want to trade in my Wii for a 360.

BioShock, the Movie?

April 14th, 2009

News has surfaced that Gore Verbinski, the man behind the massive successful Pirates of the Caribbean films, will not be heading up the fourth movie, and instead has expressed interest in directing a film adaption of the game BioShock.

Now, I haven’t played BioShock. I have no idea about the story or atmosphere of the game. Based on reputation, I hear it’s excellent, very foreboding, etc etc. What I’m more interested in is the fact that a major name director, who is behind a franchise which has produced buckets of money, is opting instead to head a video game movie. We have truly met a crazy time here, people. There used to be a time when video game movies were laughable adapations made on shoestring budgets producing mediocre results. We’re now at the point where we have video game movies produced with insane budgets which produce mediocre results!

Progress, people. Progress.
