If There Isn’t Laws Against It, There Should Be

This is the sentiment expressed by Congressman Eric Massa, who promised to introduce a bill that would make the internet “fair.” Ars has the write up on this and goes into more detail about the bill itself as well as the current situation with the cable companies rolling out their test caps to varying cities. As someone who has two companies to choose from and doesn’t blow a whole heck of a lot of bandwidth on the day-to-day, I’m not all that concerned yet about these increasing roll-outs. What bothers me is that those people who only have one choice for their cable and internet needs will in the end get fucked over by this, and which is why a “Broadband Internet Fairness Act” sounds like a pretty rad idea.
For those of you stuck with one choice only, what are you going to do when these caps start affecting you? Do you even think this is worth losing sleep over? Would you in fact go back to DSL or dial-up if you could? Feel free to spread the paranoia in the comments below!
