Here’s an interesting little tidbit of information I found via Hypebot: Independent artists swept half the Grammy Awards! This is pretty darn good news and shows that there is room for real competition in the music industry. The fact that 56 out of 110 awards were given to independent artists is amazing and almost unheard of. Record companies have been screwing over their artists for so long that even big name stars (Robert Plant and Alison Krauss) want nothing to do with them.

So musicians out there, self-release your music. I’ll listen to it. Send me your myspace; your soundcloud; your purevolume; your website. Because ultimately I (your fans) am the biggest asset you will ever acquire in this industry.
