As you all have probably guessed, I have nothing short of a huge crush on Kate Micucci. Her quirky lyrics and wonderful ukulele playing has won my cold, cold heart.
That’s why I’m so excited to see her in a new web show called, “Nick’s Big Show!” She plays the assistant/former fan club president to Nick, a self-absorbed actor. While watching the first episode of the show, I was distinctly reminded of Clark and Michael, which is one of my favorite web series to date. The first episode is up and new episodes are released each Friday.
We’ve finally done it! We’ve created a merch store for you to peruse and purchase Geek Troika gear. Right now, the selection is limited, but we plan on created many new designs for you to purchase. If you have any suggestions or comments, please let us know!
So go on, check out our store! Please? I’ll love you forever!
I’ve found that there are many different kinds of consumers out there. There are the consumers like my dad: slow to make purchases, constantly researching and studying the safety issues and mulling over his purchases. Then there are consumers like me: quick purchases, few possessions, but once I find a company or brand I enjoy I stick to it with a jealous loyalty.
There are a few brands and companies that I live by and try to evangelize on a daily basis. One of them is Zappos which I would consider to be the absolute best online shoe/clothing retailer I’ve ever used. Their customer service is amazing and their selection is fantastic. I love interacting with any (and every) employee I’ve had the chance to speak with. The company really gets what makes customers enjoy the experience of online shopping (speed) and what makes customers enjoy the instore shopping experience (excellent/quick customer service). Because of my past with Zappos, I’ll promote them until they’ve really messed up. I’ll choose to buy shoes there even when they might be a little cheaper at a store (rare). That’s just the kind of consumer I am. I love Zappos and I want you to know it.
I’m a diehard brand loyalist. There aren’t many of us around these days. My mother wasn’t one. She would get the sales papers from ten different stores if it meant she got the best deal for whatever it was she needed, regardless of the sliding scale of quality that sometimes accompanied the cheaper price. My friends —mostly college students— buy what they can afford and do so on a whim. They are also easy to sway.
I regularly evangelize brands to my friends and they easily take heed of my advice. They are easily swayed because they have no definitive opinion on the subject…and I am convincing. I am the type of consumer that brands should target much more often. I have the benefit of trust that big companies and corporations don’t and I exercise that trust to push my brand loyalty agenda. Is this wrong? Am I straddling some invisible moral line or am I just helping others find value in the things I value?
Hey everyone! We’re having some editing issues, so the new ep will be late this week. Hope you don’t mind waiting a little bit for what could very well be our best (dirtiest) ep yet!
We hinted a few episodes ago that Geek Troika Productions has a few other projects in development right now. Specifically, we mentioned a comedy web series Jon and I are developing called Matsie Reads Her Spam.
As I mentioned on the podcast, MRHS is about a girl named Matsie who is under the impression the spam email she receives are all real. Needless to say, there’s quite a bit of hilarity that ensues as she gets herself wrapped up in a Nigerian money scam. Her two best friends, Carl and Sam are forced to come to her rescue once they realize her spam reading ways are not just a big joke.
I’ve decided to give you a couple screenshots of the animated intro sequence for the show! Tom Riffel was nice enough to offer his artistic services and we greatly appreciate it.
Be on the look out because we’ll post the intro sequence in its entirety very soon. We have a tentative release for early summer 2009.
I happen to really enjoy music. A big part of my geekery (and snobbery) comes in music form. I have an insatiable appetite for music and I am always looking for something new and different while still cherishing the things I’ve already discovered. I don’t get bored of music that easily.
When I discovered Danielle Ate The Sandwich on Youtube I was instantly in love. She has an incredible sense of humor and a delightful goofy personality that really shines through in her videos and her voice and lyrical talent is spot on. You’ll be suprised by how gorgeous her voice is, I know I was! Danielle writes her music for guitar and ukulele. Her latest song, “One Year Later” is one whose lyrics I relate to on such a deep level, it CREEPS ME OUT!
Here she is singing, “One Year Later” on the ukulele. If you don’t fall in love with her after watching this…you’re a heathen!
I have been a huge fan of Lev Yilmaz for a while. I talked about him on my personal blog at least a year ago. He’s an amazingly talented animator with a unique style and poignant writing. You don’t often find poignant wiritng in animation and it’s a pleasant surprise to see such powerful and close to home writing.
In Lev’s latest addition to his series called “Tales of Mere Existence”, he discusses how a man makes decisions. It’s called, “What Would Penis Do?”.
I really love what Improv Everywhere is doing. The group organizes different flash mob and quirky events to happen in public places. This has included a pantsless subway ride, impromptu musical number in a mall food court and now, high fives on an escalator.
For our latest mission, Agent Lathan gave out 2,000 high fives by standing next to a subway escalator during the morning rush. Five additional agents spread out along the adjacent stairs, holding signs that prepared commuters for the upcoming high five fun. Enjoy the video first and then check out the mission report and photos below.
